This artwork is from the Ilha Collection by South African fine arts photographer David Ballam. It features a handmade poling dugout canoe, traditionally made by local fisherman by hollowing out a tree.

The canvas is stretched onto a frame and framed in a reclaimed African wood frame. These frames are very organic and come with knots, contusions and imperfections in the wood - this is a reclaimed wood, so it does have these imperfections.
